Joanne Holland

Biography

Joanne Holland is an experienced civil and commercial mediator who has mediated more than 1,000 disputes across a broad range of sectors.

CEDR trained and accredited, Joanne has spent much of her career in mediation, ADR and dispute resolution. Her experience combines hands-on mediation with the management and development of mediation services, giving her a particularly practical understanding of how disputes arise, escalate and can be resolved.

Joanne previously held senior responsibility for the HMCTS Small Claims Mediation Service across the East Midlands, with responsibility for the delivery of mediation services and liaison with key stakeholders including the judiciary.

She subsequently established and became Managing Director of Small Claims Mediation (UK) Limited, developing a substantial mediation practice serving consumers and businesses.

Her mediation and ADR work has involved clients across a wide range of sectors and her CV records experience involving national businesses, law firms, trade associations and consumer organisations.

Joanne has particular strengths in identifying the central issues in a dispute quickly, working with parties who have become entrenched in their positions and helping participants move from disagreement towards practical options for resolution.

Her approach is collaborative, pragmatic and focused on communication. She is experienced in working with individuals, businesses and professional advisers and in adapting the mediation process to the people and circumstances involved.

Joanne also has substantial experience in complaint resolution and consumer ADR. She has contributed to the development of dispute-resolution services and to wider work concerning online dispute resolution, including contributing to the Civil Justice Council's work on Online Dispute Resolution.

She has spoken about mediation and ADR at professional events including the CIArb Mediation Symposium and the World Mediation Summit in Madrid.

Joanne is also Business Development Director at ProMediate.
